P.H. Yu — China Won’t Wait

China’s rise is both unambiguous and unstoppable, whether the West likes it or not. Refusing to acknowledge reality will only generate more tension – and more risk, because failing to accommodate China will destabilize the rules-based order on which the world has come to rely.…
The handwriting is on the wall, but in Chinese characters that few in the West seem to be able to read. Uh oh. Collision course.

This post can be read as advice to the liberal West, or as a warning — or both.

US corporations moved their operations to China, thereby boosting corporate profits and wiping out American jobs.

China is now flexing its muscle, demanding (for instance) that all airline companies that fly to China refer to Tibet and Taiwan not as independent nations, but as part of China. Airlines that fail to obey will not be allowed to land in China.

The West created today’s China, and now the West is crying about it.

Sometimes Taiwan talks about rejoining China, since the Western Empire is clearly entering its twilight. Other times Taiwan feels bullied by China, and reasserts its independence.

By the way, Taipei (Taiwan’s capital) has one of those idiotic “national debt clocks” whose function is to keep the peasants submissive.

BY THE WAY, regarding China, here is my hypothesis about what happened to Malaysia Airlines flight 370, which vanished on 8 March 2014 with 239 people on board. No trace was ever found.

The plane had departed from Kuala Lumpur, and was proceeding northeast to its destination of Beijing China when the U.S. navy (or and allied navy such as the Thai or the Australian navy) accidentally shot it down during a naval exercise. This was about 1:19 am local time.

Such accidents have happened before, but in this case Flight MH 370 was over the South China Sea, which is one of the most sensitive and highly contested areas in the world, and is also one of the busiest maritime areas in the world (perhaps THE busiest). The South China Sea is full of warships from many nations. China, the USA, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and others all have competing claims to this area.

159 people on board (64% of the total personnel) were Chinese nationals. If China learned that the US military (or a US-allied military) accidentally shot down Flight MH 370, then China would have grounds to demand that all US forces leave the area.

The US military will not surrender its presence there, so a story was cooked up that for some unexplained reason, Flight MH 370 radically altered course and headed out to the Indian Ocean, where it mysteriously vanished into thin air.

Everyone has mindlessly accepted this nonsense for over four years. Large airliners vanishing into thin air? Sure. Right.

If China was smart, then China would search the seabed in the China Sea, which is comparatively shallow. My guess is they would find residue from the airliner. No doubt the USA has collected and hidden much of the residue, but it is doubtful the USA could have located all of it.
